How is LMB 2.0 different from your original light kits and components?
The component enhancements and new lighting kits are the culmination of years of feedback, research and innovation - long story short: you spoke, we listened! We’ve made significant improvements to the overall quality of our light kits and components based on all the feedback we’ve gathered from you, our community, over the last few years. Plus we tackled the exciting industry-first features that have been on our wish-list for some time.
Our new range features the flattest flex capable system available on the market with easy-to-connect plugs. There are no exposed solder points, and all components are now housed in casings that are designed to enhance your LEGO® displays rather than detract from them. From the largest components to the tiniest detail, we’ve reviewed and transformed our entire lighting system to make your build the ultimate experience.
Importantly, with our 2.0 light kits and components, and for the first time ever, you can also now choose to build and light together, or you can light up a pre-built model layer-by-layer. With new and improved 3D installation guides carefully crafted for both building methods, you’ll snap every brick and component into place with zero confusion, ensuring a straightforward and fun experience from start to finish. As collectors, builders and LEGO® enthusiasts ourselves, we’re constantly on the hunt for more: more transformation; more creativity; more delight. It’s always been our goal to be nimble and adapt alongside new LEGO® designs, to keep pace with the eagerness of this community and enhance the building experience in every way possible.
For years, LEGO® builders and collectors worldwide have loved our light kits and components - we’ve heard it first-hand. But we’ve also heard your feedback loud and clear, down to the finest detail of the smallest component, and we’ll never shy away from it. So while we were the first company globally to manufacture and sell LEGO® lights and componentry, we never want to rest on laurels. That’s why we’ve been hard at work over the last couple of years improving and enhancing our light system and components: because we care about taking LEGO® to the next level, and we truly believe that your LEGO® deserves more.
What light kits feature the new 2.0 components?
We’ve hand-selected our 11 most popular LEGO® light kits to upgrade for the first release of Light My Bricks 2.0, including The Lord Of The Rings: Rivendell™, the Orchid, Hogwarts™ Castle And Grounds, Star Wars™ R2-D2™, and the Natural History Museum.
If you don’t have any of these LEGO® sets, we have also released a range of DIY Starter Packs and individual 2.0 components.
Will you be releasing more 2.0 kits?
Absolutely, our team is hard at work behind the scenes preparing for the next release of 2.0 light kits. This will include a mix of original Light My Bricks kits that are due for an upgrade, plus brand-new light kits for upcoming LEGO® releases. What light kits will you be upgrading to 2.0 next? Or will you only be focussing on new LEGO® releases?
The Light My Bricks Design Team is working on both! Our plan is to upgrade existing light kits as well as design and release brand-new kits for upcoming LEGO® releases. Keep an eye on our social media channels and your email inbox to be the first to know what’s being released next!
Will 1.0 kits and components still be available to purchase?
Absolutely! Our original light kits are still available to purchase via our website and through our retail partners. When selected kits sell-out, and if there is a 2.0 equivalent, our plan will be to only stock and sell the upgraded kit moving forward.
Can I light after I build with 2.0, or only as I build?
For the first time ever, you can now choose to build and light your LEGO® creation simultaneously, or you can light up a pre-built model layer-by-layer. The choice is entirely up to you!
Will you have instructions for both building methods (light as I build, and light after I build)?
We sure will! Our installation guides have been completely reimagined for the launch of our new 2.0 light kits to make for an enjoyable building experience at every step. Crafted for clarity and ease, our new 3D installation guides will make every step straightforward and fun so, regardless of whether you choose to light as or after you build, you’ll view every brick and integrate every component with zero confusion.
Do you recommend I light as I build, or light after I build?
That’s the most exciting part: the choice is entirely up to you! We designed our new range of light kits and components to give LEGO® enthusiasts everywhere greater choice when it comes to their building and lighting experience. Which building method you choose depends entirely on what you prefer, and also whether you have your LEGO® kit or not - if you’re waiting for both your LEGO® and Light My Bricks orders to arrive, why not be one of the first worldwide to light as you build? We’d love to hear how you find it!
Can I buy the 2.0 components separately, or do I have to buy them in a light kit?
At this stage, you can get your hands on individual 2.0 components by purchasing one of our DIY kits. Our DIY Connection and Starter Packs contain some of our most popular components which have been upgraded as part of our 2.0 launch, and our newly-designed Converter Dock is available for you to light your displays with both original and 2.0 components.
I just bought a kit and saw there is now a 2.0 version, what should I do?
Firstly, thank you for your ongoing support for Light My Bricks! We hope you’ve been loving our lighting solutions, and are so glad to hear of your interest in one of our upgraded kits. If the lighting kit you initially bought is still in original condition (meaning, it is still in the packaging and has not been used), then we are more than happy to organise a return and full refund so you can then purchase an updated 2.0 kit. As a next step, please send us a message with your order number, and we’ll look into this for you!
Can I use both 1.0 and 2.0 components in one of my displays?
Yes, both our original and upgraded components are modular, meaning that they can be used to light up LEGO® displays as well as your own creations! To assist, we’ve designed and released a brand new Convertor Dock so you can light your displays with both our original and 2.0 components.
Why are your light kits more expensive than other lighting companies?
Here at Light My Bricks, we’re laser-focussed on providing the best possible LEGO® building experience for creators, collectors and enthusiasts worldwide. We’re aware of a number of other manufacturers trying to replicate our products and, in doing so, selling these knock-offs at a cheaper price. However, we’re not interested in being the cheapest. If we were, it would ultimately impact every aspect of the product we offer - from the packaging, to component handling, installation guides and customer support, right through to the end result. We wouldn’t be able to offer you a premium product and advanced LEGO lighting experience, and that’s a non-negotiable for us. Our pricing is a reflection of our commitment and dedication to offering you the componentry and building experience your LEGO® truly deserves.
Can I swap my original Light My Bricks kit for a new one?
If your Light My Bricks kit is still in original condition, and has not been removed from the packaging, then we can absolutely organise a full refund so that you can purchase a 2.0 equivalent kit. However, we aren’t able to do the same for pre-used kits no longer in their original condition. As a next step, please send us a message with your order number, and we’ll look into this for you!
I’m new to LEGO lighting, I’m confused about which kit should I buy - the original Light My Bricks or a 2.0 version?

Whether you choose to purchase one of our original light kits or an upgraded 2.0 version, know that both are fantastic solutions to seamlessly add lights and effects to your favourite LEGO® sets.
The main point of difference between the two offerings is that the 2.0 kits are focussed on creating an elevated overall building experience: the components are even easier to handle than their original counterparts, have a sleeker finish, and fit perfectly amongst LEGO® bricks and in your display. You also have the option of lighting as you build your LEGO® set, or lighting it after it is built (the original kits are only designed to do the latter).
Our team of designers and engineers have carefully considered all aspects of our 2.0 offering, from the packaging, to the component quality and handling, the new-and-improved 3D installation guides, and of course the lights themselves. The 2.0 range of light kits and components are for the LEGO® lovers who appreciate the journey, as much as the result. There are no other products like these available anywhere else - we absolutely love them, and hope you will too!
